Lenco-MD is the record player of the 21st century. It is 3D printed, modular and made of renewable green materials. The Lenco-MD rethinks the classic concept of the record player. Although its design is inspired by classic Lenco record players, its characteristics are not. It is built by you, 3D printed, modular, feature rich, community driven, upgradable and mainly made of renewable resources. All this with great audio quality and an aesthetic design.
The first functional prototype of the Lenco-MD was first presented at the IFA Berlin 2018(Consumer Electronics Fair) where it was ranked as top 3 best innovations.
World’s first 3D printed record player
Lenco-MD is word’s first 3D printed record player. It was introduced by a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2018-2019. If you are a maker or into tinkering, create your own modules using our pre-set designs or start from scratch. Add your favorite tonearm, create a new damping system or alter the design. The only limit is your imagination.
Modularity – you pick the features
The Lenco-MD consists of multiple modular units. It is super easy to swap them and adapt the record player to suit your particular situation. How does the modularity work? Simple: All three 3D Printed frame legs of the Lenco-MD feature internal thread. The modules have external thread and can be easily swapped into any of the frame legs. The Lenco-MD modules do also have internal thread. This makes it easy to add electronics to the module by using the modular adapter plate. Plug the wiring into the pre-amp and you are all set up.
The green record player – made of renewable resources
The record player of the 21st century leaves the smallest ecological footprint possible. It is made of PLA, a biodegradable and bioactive thermoplastic. PLA is derived from renewable resources, such as corn starch and sugarcane. Don’t worry, degradation of the material will only occur under certain conditions (right temperature, humidity, bacteria, enzymes).
Made with precision – Quality Lenco parts
Lenco has been synonymous with Swiss engineering precision in the Hi-Fi and consumer electronics field for more than 70 years. All mechanical and electronics parts in the Lenco-MD are genuine high quality Lenco parts, which results in the iconic and world renowned sound.
Tonearm & anti-skating
The Lenco-MD comes with a special tonearm, with a visually fascinating mechanical framework. Since the tonearm is perfectly balanced around a unipivot bearing, it does not skew or favor one groove side over the other. It reduces the ubiquitous resonances and frictions to an absolute minimum.
There is no need for complex adjustments (anti-skating): The suspended counterweight design and the proportions of the frame around the bearing perfectly balance the horizontal tracking angle.
Cartridge Freedom – Install your favorite cartridge
Lenco-MD is shipped with the quality AT3600 cartridge from Audio Technica. You have however, complete freedom to install your favorite cartridge. The handle on the tonearm is flexible and can be equipped with almost any cartridge & stylus available on the market.
33 ⅓ RPM or 45 RPM
Speed change is electronic, switch from 33 ⅓ to 45 RPM with the press of a button.
Listen the way you want
The Lenco-MD has a built-in stereo pre-amp and RCA line out port. This lets you connect it to your own audio setup or headphones. A Bluetooth module is set to be developed soon after the Kickstarter campaign. This enables you wireless streaming options.
Multiple power sources
The record player will come with a DC power supply, combined with a power plug. Additional powering options are currently being developed. You can expect an AccuPack and Solar Charging Module as upgrades soon.
Vibration Damping Feet
Vibration is the enemy of every record player. For the Lenco-MD we came up with a simple, yet effective solution for eliminating and isolating vibration: Soft golf balls. This gives the record player more stability, helps eliminate vibrations and needle skipping.
The Lenco-MD record player uses a belt-drive to spin the platter. An elastic belt is directly attached to the record player’s motor, offering quick and precise movement. The player’s platter rests atop a bearing and is isolated from the devices’ motor. The system absorbs shock, and reduces harsh vibrations generated by the player’s motor.
